Here is an amazing plate of brachiopods. These are Hiscobeccus capax from the Ordovician of Indiana. There are at least SEVENTEEN extremely inflated brachiopods on the plate (16 Hiscobeccus and one unidentified brachiopod). The brachs have both valves intact and exhibit fine detail. The coarse plications of the shells are wonderfully displayed, and even the fine growth lines can be seen. The off-white fossils contrast nicely with the darker grey matrix. The brachs are well presented on the plate of shale that also contains other fossils. This is a fabulous multiple slab of Hiscobeccus brachiopods from the Ordovician.
