Here is a wonderful fossil coral from the Miocene of Florida. This large coral has been totally replaced by agate. The exterior of the specimen preserves the coral shape and structure (see photo #2). The inside of the specimen is filled with with botryoidal chalcedony or agate - almost in a stalactitic fashion. The coral has been split in half to expose this structure. The many colors and interesting formations make for a beautiful display. This is a very nice example of split pair ''Tampa Bay Coral'' that is becoming increasingly harder to obtain.
