Here is a very ornate echinoid from Africa. It is an unusual Gymnocidaris pustulosa from Morocco. This inflated sea urchin has great form and exhibits very fine detail, especially under magnification. This type of echinoid has very thin ambulacra, and the entire test is covered with ornate, knobby tubercles, which were the points of spine attachment. The sea urchin is fully free of matrix, and can be viewed from all angles. This is a fabulous specimen of this beautiful sea urchin.

This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
