This is a very large blastoid specimen from the Mississippian of West Virginia. In the center of the plate is a wonderful example of Pentremites robustus. The distinct echinoderm is very robust and exhibits good detail - better than the photo shows. The brown fossil contrasts nicely with the blue-grey matrix. The fossil is well showcased on the large plate of shale. And the blastoid is 1.6 inches long - one of the largest blastoids we've ever seen! This is a very large specimen of this unique blastoid from West Virginia.
