Here is a beautiful specimen of a classic echinoid. This is Tripneustes parkinsoni from the Miocene of France. This echinoid is very 3-dimensional and exhibits excellent detail. The plate structure is just terrific. Under magnification, each plate displays a rugose or striated surface. The ambulacra of the echinoid are easily seen. This sea urchin has rows of tubercles on each side of the ambulacra. The fossil has great natural color and contrast and is well presented on a large block of matrix. This is a highly detailed specimen of the European echinoid, Tripneustes parkinsoni.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
