This is a very aesthetic plate of brachiopods. There are SIX examples of Platystrophia ponderosa on this slab. These large Ordovician brachiopods have both valves intact and tightly articulated. The fossil ''lampshells'' are extremely inflated and exhibit excellent detail. The coarse plications of the shells are easily seen, and the fine growth lines are quite evident. The fossils have nice color and contrast and are well positioned on the natural block of limestone. This is a very nice specimen of six large Ordovician brachiopods from Kentucky.
