Here is a rare pair of fossil insects from the Eocene of Utah. There is a Cricket (left) and a Snout Beetle (Coleoptera) on the plate. This Cricket is well preserved - under magnification, it displays very fine detail. The beetle also exhbits superb detail - the head, body, legs, and especially the large snout of the insect are quite distinct. The wing coverings display extremely fine reticulation. The dark color of the insects contrasts nicely with the lighter-colored matrix. The fossils are well presented on the large, natural plate of shale. This is a textbook example of a Cricket and Snout Beetle association from the Green River Formation.

This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
