This is a very aesthetic plate of brachiopods. There are three LARGE examples of Platystrophia acutilirata on this slab. These HUGE Ordovician brachiopods have both valves intact and tightly articulated. The fossil ''lampshells'' are extremely inflated and exhibit excellent detail. The coarse plications of the shells are easily seen, and the fine growth lines are quite evident. The fossils have nice color and contrast and are well showcased on the natural plate of shale. This is a very impressive specimen of three large Ordovician brachiopods from Kentucky.
