Here is an extremely interesting fossil. This is the lower jaw of an Ice Age Bison from Nebraska. This jaw is extremely large, obviously from an adult animal. There are still two back teeth firmly embedded in the jaw. These teeth have been extremely ground down, naturally, due to the foraging of the animal. The other teeth, which were originally in the jaw, are missing entirely and the cavities have started filling in with bone material! The beast ate so much that it ground away its teeth and then had nothing to eat with. It has been proposed by many authorities that these large grazing animals actually ate themselves to death. This is a very intriguing fossil of a Pleistocene Bison from Nebraska.
