This is a very aesthetic fossil. It is a fabulous Pseudocidaris mammosa from Spain (not France, where most are found!). Pseudocidaris, with its numerous bulbous spines, is perhaps the most exotic fossil echinoid in the world. The fossil has been painstakingly cleaned and composited by an expert preparator. The urchin itself is extremely detailed, and the large club spines just add to the display. The urchin is well showcased on the large block of matrix. This is a very impressive echinoid that is simply a beautiful fossil.
