Here is an extremely ornate echinoid from Africa. It is an incredible Dorocidaris taouzensis from Morocco. This inflated sea urchin has great form and exhibits very fine detail, especially under magnification. This type of echinoid has very thin ambulacra, and the entire test is covered with MANY ornate, knobby tubercles, which were the points of spine attachment. The sea urchin is fully free of matrix, and can be viewed from all angles. This is a top quality fossil, and one of the most detailed fossil urchins we have ever seen, period.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
