Here is a gorgeous specimen of a multiple echinoid plate. These are Oligopygus wetherbyi from the Eocene of Florida. These echinoids are very 3-dimensional and exhibit excellent detail. The plate structure is preserved, and under magnification, the sea urchin displays the ambulacra beautifully and has many prominent tubercles on the surface. The fossils have very good color and contrast and are well presented on the natural block of matrix. This is a wonderful multiple example of Oligopygus wetherbyi from Florida.
