Here is a pair of interesting gastropod fossils from the Miocene of France. These are examples of Turritella sp., a high-spired gastropod. These large gastropods are quite 3-dimensional and exhibit wonderful detail. The fine ornamentation of the fossils is clearly defined. The snails have great color and contrast and are well positioned on the thick block of sandstone matrix. This is a very displayable double specimen of this classic Miocene gastropod from France.
