This is a very nice vertebrate fossil. It is a Cave Bear (Ursus spelaeus) jaw from the Pleistocene of Russia. Cave bear material is becoming harder to obtain as the cave deposits have been heavily collected. Four teeth are still tightly embedded in the jawbone. The teeth have excellent enamel, and the cusps are sharp and unworn. The very tip of the large canine is fully intact, which is quite unusual. This is a very fine specimen of an extinct Cave Bear jaw from the Ice Age of Romania.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
