This is a very unusual plate of echinoderm fossils. It is a slab of FOUR Scalenocystites strimplei, a solutin carpoid, from the Middle Ordovician of Minnesota. Carpoids were primitive echinoderms similar to cystoids, but much rarer. These specimens are well articulated, showing the holdfast, or ''tail'', and the distinct body. The plate structure of the carpoids is beautifully displayed under magnification. The fossils are well showcased on the colorful plate of shale that also contains many other fossils. This is a fabulous multiple example of this rare, enigmatic echinoderm from Minnesota.

This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
