This is one of the rarest types of echinoderms found in Morocco. It is an Undescribed Carpoid, a cornute, from the Basal Upper Fezouata Formation of Zagora, Morocco. Carpoids were extremely primitive echinoderms somewhat related to cystoids. This specimen is complete, with the EXTREMELY LONG tail fully complete and well displayed. The plate structure of the carpoid is also nicely intact, which is almost never preserved. The striking natural coloration contrasts beautifully with the greenish-grey plate of shale. This is easily one of the best examples of this Undescribed Carpoid we have ever seen.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
