This is an excellent Eocene fossil. It is a rare association of a Wasp Hymenoptera) and an Allophylus flexifolia leaf from Utah. The wasp is complete with even the wings and antennae preserved! Under magnification, the detail of the wasp is stunning. The Allophylus leaf is also complete with part of the petiole intact. Both fossils are nicely centered on the buff-colored matrix block. This is a great association specimen of a killer insect and a beautiful leaf on the same plate.
