Here is an excellent Calycoceras wintoni from the Lower Cretaceous of Texas. This type of ammonite has coarse ribs and a very wide keel with distinct nodes positioned near the keel. This large, 3-dimensional ammonite has great detail. The inner whorls are beautifully displayed and the intricate suture pattern is clearly defined. The cephalopod has several bivalves tightly attached which makes for a very interesting story. The ammonite has wonderful, creamish coloration and is nicely positioned on the natural block of concretionary matrix. This is a very displayable example of this wide-bodied ammonite from Texas.
