Here is a very distinct ammonite from the Jurassic of Madagascar. This type of ammonite is much more unusual than Cleoniceras, and has many more chambers preserved. This large ammonite has been cut in half and both halves have been highly polished for optimal display. The coiling pattern of the mollusk is easily seen, and the individual chambers are beautifully displayed. The gorgeous coloration of the interior of the ammonite makes for an exciting exhibit. This is a large, attractive display fossil from Madagascar.
