This is a rare fossil starfish from the Ordovician of Ohio. This specimen was found at the Flexicalymene locality - this is the only starfish we've ever seen from this site. This starfish has many arms present (highly unusual) and exhibits superb detail. The plate structure is beautifully defined - just look at the photo. This fossil echinoderm has very good color and contrast and is well presented wrapped around the calyx of a crinoid! This is a wonderful example of rare fossil starfish from the Flexicalymene site.
