Here is a very rare vertebrate fossil. This is a complete Canine Tooth from the extinct Bear, Ursus americanus. This fossil was found in the famous Pleistocene River Deposits of Florida. This location has not produced nice specimens for a number of years now. The tooth is very well preserved and is fully free of matrix. The enamel of the tooth is very easily seen. The root of the tooth is fully intact, which is extremely unusual. This is a very collectible Bear canine from the classic Florida "Bone Beds" collecting site.
