This is a striking fossil ammonite. It is a large Jeletzkytes spedeni from South Dakota. This specimen is extremely 3-dimensional and complete all the way to the aperture. The cephalopod exhibits amazingly fine detail. The unique feature of this ammonite is that one side has a natural, multi-colored surface with highlights of red and green, while the whitish, nacreous shell of the ammonite is intact and beautifully preserved on the other side. The ammonite is fully free of matrix, and can be viewed from all sides. This is a fabulous Jeletzkytes ammonite with natural contrasting display sides..
