This is a very unusual multiple plate of cystoids. These are Pleurocystites squamosus from the Ordovician of Canada. There are TEN specimens of this primitive echinoderm on the plate - it is very unusual to find this many Pleurocystites in such close proximity to each other. The cystoids exhibit extraordinary detail. The plate structure is easily seen, and the pore-rhombs are beautifully displayed. Even some of the arms are present, which is highly uncommon. Almost all of the specimens have the long, tapering stem intact. The cream-colored echinoderms contrast well with the grey matrix (more striking than the picture shows). The fossils are nicely showcased on the rectangular plate of limestone that also contains many other fossils. This is a very unique plate of Pleurocystites cystoids from the Ordovician of Canada.
