This is a very distinct vertebrate fossil. It is an intact Cave Bear (Ursus spelaeus) jaw from the Pleistocene of Russia. Cave bear material is becoming harder to obtain as the cave deposits have been heavily collected. The four molars and large canine are still tightly embedded in the jawbone. The teeth have excellent enamel preserved, and the cusps are sharp and unworn. The very tip of the large canine is fully intact, which is quite unusual. This is a very displayable specimen of an extinct Cave Bear jaw from the Ice Age of Romania.
