Here is a very fine example of an unusual fossil. This is Retpora diffusa, a a bryozoan, from the Silurian of New York. Retpora diffusa was a branching bryozoan colony that is rarely seen. This wonderful specimen is a very nice example of the branching colony. The fossil has excellent color and contrast and has very fine detail preserved. This is a very distinct specimen of this uncommon, enigmatic fossil.
