This is an excellent specimen of Discoscaphites conradi from the Cretaceous of South Dakota. The fossil cephalopod is inflated and complete all the way down to the aperture. The faint ribbing pattern and the nodes around the circumference of the ammonite are nicely displayed. The white shell still has the slightly iridescent mother-of-pearl color preserved. The ammonite is beautifully positioned on the natural matrix block, which also contains other fossils. This is a very pretty ammonite from the Cretaceous.
