This is a very distinct ammonite from Russia. It is a large Deshayesites imitator from the Hauterivian. This type of ammonite has a rounded keel and strong ribbing. The fossil has excellent detail and great natural color, caused by its beautiful, dark iridescence. The ammonite is embedded in its natural block of matrix that also contains other fossils. This is a wonderful display fossil from the Jurassic of Russia.
