Here is a very nice vertebrate fossil. This is a nearly complete Oreodont jaw from the Brule Formation of South Dakota. The jaw bone is quite substantial, and ALL of the large teeth are still tightly attached to the jaw. The teeth exhibit very nice structure - the cusps of the teeth are well defined, and the enamel is very well preserved. This jaw is embedded in a natural matrix block, making for a great display. This is a very fine specimen of a mammal jaw from the Oligocene.
