This is a very unusual eurypterid fossil. It is a multiple plate of Balteurypterus tetragonopthalmus from the Ukraine. Specimens of this type surface occasionally, but they are usually incomplete or just parts. Two specimens are essentially complete, each missing the telson (tailspine) and a paddle. The eurypterids are beautifully preserved, have great detail, and contrast very well with the light-colored matrix that also contains many parts. This is a rare pair of articulated Eurypterids from part of the old Soviet Union.
