This is a nice skull of Percrocuta sp., a Hyena, from the Miocene of China. The general shape of the skull is intact, and the bone structure is quite evident. There are many teeth in the skull and jaws. The teeth are wonderfully intact and display quite nicely from both sides. The teeth have excellent enamel and beautiful coloration. They exhibit hardly any wear - the cusps of the robust teeth are clearly defined. This is a fine skull and lower jaws from a Miocene hyena.
