This is a beautiful ammonite fossil. It is a natural TRIPLE Hoploscaphites mandanensis from the Cretaceous of South Dakota. These ammonites are very 3-dimensionally preserved and exhibit fine detail. The cephalopods are well preserved, and the shiny, iridescent nacre is beautifully displayed. The ammonites are wonderfully displayed in a large, natural block of concretionary matrix that hasother fossils preserved. This is a very colorful set of Hoploscaphites mandanensis ammonites from the Fox Hills Formation.
