This is a very colorful ammonite double from Russia. There are two fine ammonites, Cosmoceras proniae, on the plate. Cosmoceras has pronounced ribbing and a sharp keel. These specimens are preserved in a very 3-dimensional manner and exhibit fine detail. The ribbing patterns are easily seen, and the inner coils are clearly defined. The nacreous shell of the cephalopods is intact, and the gorgeous iridescent coloration is just spectacular. The ammonites are wonderfully perched atop the block of sculpted matrix. This is a beautiful pair of iridescent ammonites from Russia.
