This is an unusual fossil. It is a pair of Ophiopetra brittlestars from the Solnhofen fossil beds of Germany. The top of the plate has two brittlestars and a partial represented. The most striking feature about these starfish is their long, curling arms. Both specimens showcase this feature beautifully. The arms also have many spikes and spines on them - amazing detail when viewed under magnification. The large display plate is solid and dense - never been cracked or broken. This is an affordable plate of these ornate brittlestars from the famous Solnhofen limestone.
