Here is a very unusual edrioasteroid from the Ordovician of Canada. There is a beautiful Isorophusella incondita on the plate. Edrioasteroids were primitive echinoderms which consisted of a flexible theca composed of numerous polygonal plates. This edrioasteroid exhibits very fine detail - the outer rings of small plates are beautifully displayed, and the ambulacral plates are unusually well defined. The cream-colored fossil contrasts nicely with the grey matrix. The edrio is well presented on the semi-squared slab of hard limestone. This is a very fine example of this uncommon echinoderm from Canada.
