This is a very rare fossil. It is an enigmatic Camptostroma roddyi from East Petersburg, Pennsylvania. Camptostroma are one of the earliest known types of echinoderms. Found in the Lower Cambrian, these rare, Medusa-like animals had a distinct plate structure and an unusual orange coloration. This fossil has great detail and contrasts well with the lighter-colored matrix. The distinct plate structure is easily seen under magnification. This is a very unique example of this unusual Lower Cambrian echinoderm, found over a decade ago.
