This is a very unusual fossil. It is a nice Cyclus americanus from the Mazon Creek deposits of Illinois. Cyclus seems to be sort of a cross between a copopod and a crab. This specimen is well preserved, with the antennae preserved, which is quite rare. The concretion has both halves intact, so both fossils are included here. This is an excellent example of this enigmatic arthropod from the classic Mazon Creen fauna.
