This is a very unusual echinoderm plate. It is a multiple slab of Caryocrinites ornatus from the Rochester Shale of New York. This type of primitive echinoderm has a somewhat ovate cup comprised of large, highly ornamented plates - the plate structures of these specimens are easily seen. Two of the cystoids even have some of the arms preserved, which is extremely unusual. The fossils have very good color and contrast and are well showcased on the large plate of shale. This is a very displayable multiple specimen of Caryocrinites from the Silurian of New York.
