Here is a very unusual fossil echinoderm. This is a beautiful Robulocidaris rebouli edrioasteroid from the Ordovician of Morocco. Edrioasteroids were primitive echinoderms which consisted of a flexible theca composed of numerous polygonal plates. This edrioasteroid has super, natural orange color and excellent contrast. The fossil has extremely fine detail preserved - the plate structure and "star" are very easily seen. The edrio is well showcased on the natural-edged plate of sandstone. This is a textbook example of this unique fossil echinoderm from Morocco.
