This is a great example of a colonial coral. It is a very nice specimen of Haimesiastraea conferta from the Paleocene of Maryland. The fossil has been extracted from the surrounding matrix so that it can be viewed from all angles. This specimen is large for this type and has nice branches The coral displays well and is quite inflated and 3-D. This is a very fine example of classic colonial coral from Maryland.
