This is a very collectible fossil. This is a set of colorful sponges (Vauxia?) from the Lower Cambrian of Nevada. These fossils were found in a single layer and nowhere else in the formation, as far as we know. This distinct specimen is nicely preserved and exhibits fine detail. The tubular shape of the organisms is beautifully displayed, the textured pattern is quite evident, and the small holdfasts at the bottom are easily seen. The fossils have great color and contrast and are well presented on the large plate of shale. This is a very rare and displayable fossil of this delicate animal.
