This is one of the rarest types of echinoderms found in Morocco. It is a plate of TWO Cothurnocystis carpoids from the Basal Upper Fezouata Formation of Zagora, Morocco. Carpoids were extremely primitive echinoderms somewhat related to cystoids. These specimens are well displayed, with the plate structures well preserved - they are not usually this well preserved. The striking natural orange coloration contrasts beautifully with the greenish-grey plate of shale. And there is also a rare graptolite preserved on the plate  This is a nice multiple example of this very unusual carpoid from North Africa.
