Here is a rare fossil starfish from the Ordovician of Swatara Gap, Pennsylvania. There is a very distinct Phragmactis sp. startfish preserved on the plate. This specimen was found by Eugene Thomas in the 1980's. Starfish are uncommon at Swatara Gap, and true starfish are much rarer than brittlestars there. The starfish has all five arms intact, which is extremely rare. The fossil is FULLY NATURAL - no repair or restoration - and is well showcased on the large, natural plate of sandstone. The wonderful orange color is also fully natural. This is a very collectible specimen of Phragmactis starfish from the famous site at Swatara Gap, which is now closed to collecting.
