Here is a nice vertebrate fossil. This is a cool Oreodont jaw from the Brule Formation of South Dakota. The jaw bone is very solid, and there are still three large teeth firmly embedded in the jaw. The teeth exhibit very nice structure. The cusps of the teeth are well defined, and the enamel is well preserved. This jaw is totally free of matrix, and both sides are intact and display well. This is a fine specimen of a mammal jaw from the Oligocene.
