This is a fabulous Plesiosaur tooth from the Cretaceous of Morocco. Plesiosaurs were large, vicious marine reptiles. They had extremely long necks and fairly lengthy tails. They swam by means of legs and feet that had developed into oarlike paddles. This dagger-shaped tooth is extremely 3-dimensional and well preserved. The corrugated, dark-brown enamel is beautifully displayed, and the tip of the tooth is pointed and perfectly intact. A large portion of the root of the tooth is even preserved. The fossil has excellent color and contrasts beautifully with the sand-colored matrix. The tooth is wonderfully showcased on the block of sandstone - NATURAL, NOT COMPOSITED on the plate. This is a top quality, collectible example of a Plesiosaur tooth from the Cretaceous seas.
