Here are three very ornate echinoids from Europe. These are Goniopygus delphinensis from Spain. These inflated sea urchins have great form and exhibit very fine detail, especially under magnification. This type of echinoid has very thin ambulacra, and the entire test is covered with ornate, knobby tubercles, which were the points of spine attachment. The sea urchins are fully free of matrix, and can be viewed from all angles. This is a very nice grouping of these unusual urchins from the Cretaceous of Spain.
