Now here is an enigmatic fossil. This is a rare Conularia from the Silurian of New York. There is still a lot of debate on the classification of this animal. This specimen is large and exhibits fine detail. The crenulated ''ribs'' of the fossil shell are well defined. The fossil has very good color and contrast, and its cone-like shape is easily seen. And there is an unusual graptolite on the same plate as the Conularid! This is a very nice, large example of this extremely strange fossil.
