Here is an extremely unusual fossil brachiopod specimen. These are Acrothele sp. from the Cambrian of Utah. This specimen was found by Steve Hess in 2002. Acrothele was a very early inarticulate brachiopod. This type of brachiopod is also found in the famous Burgess Shale deposits of Canada. These specimens have wonderful form and very good detail (especially under magnification!). The brachs are well showcased on the natural plate of matrix. This is a very detailed multiple example of this uncommon fossil from Middle Cambrian.
