This is a very nice plate of brachiopods. There are SIX examples of Platystrophia ponderosa on this slab. These distinct Ordovician brachiopods have both valves intact and tightly articulated. The fossil ''lampshells'' are extremely inflated and exhibit excellent detail. The coarse plications of the shells are easily seen, and the fine growth lines are quite evident. The fossils have nice color and contrast and are naturally preserved on the plate of shale, not composited. This is a very nice specimen of six cool Ordovician brachiopods from Kentucky.
