Here is a rare pair of fossil starfish from the Ordovician of Swatara Gap, Pennsylvania. This is a very distinct double Phragmactis sp. startfish plate. This amazing specimen was found in the 1980's. Starfish are uncommon at Swatara Gap, and true starfish are MUCH rarer than brittlestars. BOTH starfish have all five arms intact, which is extremely rare. The wonderful orange color of the extinct echinoderms is fully natural and quite striking. The distinct fossils are very well showcased on the large plate of sandy marlstone. This is a very collectible DOUBLE specimen of Phragmactis starfish from the famous site at Swatara Gap, which is now closed to collecting. (If this specimen doen't sell, I will be happy to keep it for another 30 years!)
