This is a fabulous fossil starfish from the Ordovician of Canada. There is a phenomenal example of Stenaster obtusus on the slab. Stenaster starfish are commonly called ''button stars'', as they are usually small and compact. The starfish has of all five arms present (highly unusual) and exhibits superb detail. The plate structure is beautifully defined - just look at the photo. This fossil echinoderm has very good color and contrast and is well showcased on the natural plate of limestone. This is a top quality example of a true fossil starfish from the Ordovician Period.
